I hate politics! At least, the kind of aggressive, in-your-face, confrontational politics that seems to be taking hold in Wyoming lately. But I love policy debates. Here are some of the major issues I see facing Wyoming, and my views on what I hope to accomplish as your Representative.
• Environmental protection
Our climate is on fire. We must take climate change seriously. I will promote alternative energy sources, while seeking to reduce dependency on oil and natural gas. I will promote using coal to create building materials such as carbon fiber, graphene, carbon-based bricks and roofing, and polyurethane. This allows Wyoming coal companies to mine and sell coal without filling our atmosphere with more carbon.
• Public lands
Wyoming life means access to outdoor recreation and wide-open viewscapes. Some politicians want to privatize public lands. The scheme involves forcing the turnover of federally-managed lands to the state. The state, inevitably, will lack the money to properly manage that land–fire suppression costs alone are staggering. Thus, the state would be forced to sell that land to private owners, locking out the public forever. I favor preserving open space land for everybody for generations to come.
• Campaign finance
Many problems in our country require legislative fixes. But, dark money and high dollar donors can drown out the voices of ordinary citizens, who don't have thousands of dollars of spare cash lying around to give to politicians. We need to amend the United States Constitution to overturn Citizens United so both Congress and the Wyoming Legislature can enact meaningful campaign finance reform. I will continue to support efforts to get such an amendment proposed by Congress and ratified by our state.
• Democracy
I believe the 2020 election was free and fair and that there was no fraud, in Wyoming or elsewhere. In Wyoming, there has never been any proof of widespread election fraud. Protecting the right of every citizen to cast a secret ballot is the heart of protecting our freedoms. I have resisted all efforts to pass election "reform" bills which in truth are merely voter suppression bills.
• The rule of law
I believe courts are fair and impartial, and that the judicial system needs to be respected. Attacks on the judicial system are a dangerous step toward autocracy. No person is above the law. Wyoming has what I consider to be the best method for selecting qualified, unbiased judges, and I will resist all effort to change that selection system.
• Reproductive health choices
A woman’s right to choose how and when she has a child is under assault. The government has no business making such choices for women. I will work to protect and restore a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health decisions. While the Life Is a Human Right Act passed in 2023 has been declared unconstitutional by the Wyoming Supreme Court, further efforts to restrict access to reproductive health care have continued. I will continue to oppose these restrictions.
• Education
Wyoming has historically had one of the best K-12 school systems in the country. The recalibration bill passed in 2026 has made good strides toward protecting that system, by providing substantial new resources to hire more teachers and give raises to our existing educators. But the "silo" funding model may have some unintended consequences for things like extracurricular activities. I support the ongoing efforts to resolve the issues that have come to light recently.
• Taxation and local control
I oppose further efforts to unilaterally reduce property taxes without providing substitute revenue streams for local governments. Under current Wyoming law, the state can cut the real estate taxes that local authorities (cities, counties, school districts, hospital and other special districts) use to provide services to their constituents. But it is the local authorities that then have to make the difficult decisions on which services to cut when the state reduces their revenue. I support reforming the real estate tax system to allow local elected officials to have full control over the budgets of the local authorities, including the right to raise millage rates to generate sufficient revenue to provide the services that the local constituents desire.
Your support and contribution to my campaign will help me continue serving you and all of Wyoming.
